Check out our tips and tricks on how to remain fabulous while you’re working from home. From snagging those fantastic beauty salon packages to ensuring that you still have lots of fun moments, there are several surefire ways to keep shining like a star.

Work It, Girl!

How people work nowadays is greatly influenced by ever-evolving lifestyles, advancements in technology, and other societal factors. Over the years, more and more companies have become open to their employees working from home or other remote places. These days, work can be done in the comforts of one’s home.

Some naysayers would say that working from home would only lead to you looking drab and gray. Au contraire, smart work-from-home peeps would actually say that it gives them more time to pamper themselves. It may be that others have a challenging time adapting at first. However, if you master the basics of working from home, then you certainly can just flip your Brazilian blow-dried hair and wave goodbye to your bashers with your daintily manicured fingers.

If you’re a work-from-home newbie or have been sleeping under a rock, you can read on and find out how to stay absolutely adorable with these three terrific tips:

1. Swing By the Salon

Working from home doesn't mean spending all your time cooped up inside your house. Depending on your work schedule, you can surely take some time out for other personal errands or activities that you want to do.

If you’ve got time to go to the grocery, then why not swing by your favorite beauty salon as well? Whether you do video conferencing with your colleagues or not, you still want to be pretty for yourself.

Take time to go out for a quick blow dry or a mani-pedi. If you have more time, call in for an appointment and invite a friend or two to come with you. Have your hair cut, styled and treated. Treat your hands and feet with paraffin or callus treatments. You can even get lash or hair extensions.

Working from home can still bring a lot of pressure and stress. There are still deadlines to meet, quotas to reach, or bosses and clients to deal with. Massage away the worries by taking time out for a good, long massage. Refresh and revive your mind, body, and spirit by going to the spa. You can enjoy several bodies rejuvenating treatments and massage services that will surely reinvigorate you.

2. Ditch Dirty Diets and Keep Fit

Working from home can also be very tricky. You have all access to your kitchen and pantry and it can be so tempting to just munch on whatever food you can lay your eyes on.  Resist the temptation. While it is not a mortal sin to snack while you work, make sure that your snacks are healthy.

Try to avoid junk food and beverages. Instead, stock up on healthy and nutritious food and drinks. You can plan ahead of time or you can also prepare grab-and-go snacks like fresh fruits and vegetables, whole-grain bread or crackers, or nuts and seeds. Choose low fat or fat-free food and beverages, go for lean meats, poultry, or fish for your protein, and stay away from sugar-packed snacks and drinks. Also, have a glass or bottle of water by your side to keep you hydrated.

Most work-from-home setups require long hours sitting in front of the computer. To avoid this sedentary lifestyle, set a timer for every twenty minutes or so. Stand up, walk around, and get your blood circulating.

You can also set a time for exercise. 150 hours of moderate to intense physical activity can help you stay fit. Pump up your heart with aerobic exercises, swimming, or just chasing after your cat or dog in the yard. Doing household chores can also count as exercise.

Remember that a healthy and balanced diet plus a good dose of exercise will not only keep you fit but will also help in keeping you glowing.

3. Carve Out Time for Cheer

Again, working from home does not mean you cut off ties with the outside world. Whether you are an introvert, an extrovert, or something in between, make sure that you still carve out time to cheer yourself up.

There should be a good balance of work and play. If you’re not one to carouse around with friends after work, then reading your favorite novel or watching the latest series can help relax you.

Meditation, writing in your journal, or even the most mundane tasks (like cleaning your goldfish bowl) can be cathartic to some. For others, going out with family or friends on their days off can already recharge their energy. Do whatever floats your boat. Just remember that your goal is to care for yourself, so that your well of joy is filled.

The Beauty of Working From Home

There are many reasons why people choose to work from home. Some have gladly traded in their corporate suits to comfy pajamas simply because it gives them more time to spend with their families. Others find it more flexible to work from home because it still gives them time to travel or pursue other passions.

Whatever the reason may be, attaining a healthy balance of business and pleasure is key. Feeling good leads to looking good, so try to follow the above-mentioned tips to keep you sane, svelte, and shining like a star that you are.
